city centre hotel 5 min walk straight across from central station reception is lovely when u go in hotel has a lift no bar area we opted for a better room which was ok good size small bathroom nothing special room was dated it was clean room looked onto a back street which most of amsterdam must use it was noisy for a good while & the noise abt 7am was terrible bars emptying glass & can bins trams trundeling by & roadworks ok for 1 or 2 nights

We really REALLY liked the location of this hotel. Central to everything and so convenient. We booked a family room, double bed and bathroom on first floor and 3 twin beds up in a loft area. Worked really well for our family of 5 (kids 16,14, and 11). Room and bathroom was a little tired looking and could use some sprucing up but overall it was clean and comfortable for our short, 2-night stay. We saw the construction sign in the lobby but was not bothered nor did we see any signs of construction during our stay. The first night we realized pretty late that we were missing a duvet cover on one of the beds- front desk was super efficient and helpful in replacing bed cover- great service. We did not get the breakfast package as there were so many places near by. We had breakfast right next door at Maurice's and OMG and both were excellent. Highly recommend Yellow Bike Tours right next door as well. Great time in Amsterdam and we would absolutely return!

Our experience was marred by several issues that significantly impacted our stay. Firstly, the receptionist who checked us in displayed a notable lack of interest, setting a disappointing tone from the beginning of our stay. Additionally, despite a sign at the desk mentioning renovations between 9 am and 5 pm, we were not informed about this during booking or in the weeks leading up to our stay. Upon reaching our floor, we were confronted with a chaotic scene of beds scattered around and a dirty environment resulting from ongoing renovations. The situation escalated when we couldn't access our room using our key, and a construction worker had to let us in with a master key, raising concerns as our room was not part of the renovation process. Seeking assistance at the reception, we encountered an unhelpful attitude. The receptionist dismissively claimed our key worked without acknowledging the mess or offering any assistance. It was only after repeated attempts and frustration that we were informed of a specific way to use the key – information that should have been provided initially. The following day, construction work commenced at 7 am, disrupting our sleep. Despite voicing our concerns to reception, there were no apologies or attempts to address the inconvenience. Given that both my partner and I have asthma, staying in an environment resembling a construction site exacerbated our health concerns. The room itself was disappointingly tiny, and the discrepancy between the pictures online and the actual conditions was striking. Eventually, due to the unbearable circumstances, we had to book an alternative hotel, incurring additional costs. This experience at Avenue Hotel was by far the worst I have encountered, prompting me to write this review as a warning to potential guests. I strongly advise others to consider alternative options in the same price range to avoid the numerous issues we faced during our stay.

Great Location, a good breakfast with friendly staff. The reception staff was very unfriendly, couldn't even lift their heads to smile when guests entered or left the Hotel. The twin room was the tiniest room I have ever stayed in - would have been tiny even as a single room. Housekeeping could improve, never swept/cleaned the floor in the 4 days there. There are renovations going on at the moment which we weren't informed about so difficult trying to get the only lift there was as workmen using it aswell

Reasonable rates and close to the station and attractions, bed was poor and the safe on the floor was unusable for someone who is not young or has a bad back. Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast was so so.
